The Express Rail Link (ERL) is a
privatised railway linking the new Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at Sepang
with the new Sentral Station in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Under the 30-year concession
agreement with the Government, the concession company, Express
Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERLSB) will design, construct, operate and maintain the new high
speed train system. The 57 kilometre distance will be covered in less than 30 minutes. The
system will use electrical motive units (EMU) powered via an overhead catenary system. TH
Technologies Sdn Bhd holds 60% of the equity in Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERLSB) and is
the Government's designated leader for the project.

TH Technologies Sdn Bhd has formed a
joint venture company with HCM Engineering Sdn Bhd to undertake the upgrading of Federal
Route 5, from Banting to Klang and from Kapar to Sabak Bernam in Selangor Darul Ehsan. TH
Technologies Sdn Bhd will undertake 30% of the construction works which is scheduled to
commence at the end of 1999. The estimated RM250 million Design and Build
contract will take 24 months to complete. The activities will involve the reconstruction
and upgrading of the existing structures, drainage, pavement and other related works. An
innovative pavement rehabilitation. In-Place recycling technique, using foamed
bitumen will be used for rehabilitation of most of the existing pavement. The technique
will substantially increase the strength of the pavement and remove pavement cracks in the
same operation.

TH Technologies Sdn Bhd is an active
partner in the consortium proposing the privatisation of Peninsular Federal Roads
Maintenance. The proposed concession will undertake the maintenance of the Central-Eastern
region of the peninsular road network under the jurisdiction of the Government, comprising
of Federal trunk roads, roads linking ports, airports and industrial areas, security
roads, Felda roads and any new gazetted roads. With the main aim being to maintain the
road network and associated infrastructures at an acceptable level of service for the
least expenditure, an integrated system, the Total Infrastructure Management System (TIMS)
will be implemented to increase the efficiency and quality of the roads in the network.
TIMS will be the nucleus in the integration of the various sub-systems which consists of
Pavement Management System, Structural Management System, Earth Structures Management
System, Routine Management System and Executive Sub-System.

TH Technologies led a team consisting
of Xybase Technologies Sdn Bhd, a local systems integrator and Speedwing, the IT
subsidiary of British Airways, to provide the Airport Operations Centre, Crisis Control
Centre and Network Management Centre sub-system packages for the Total Airport Management
System, from which the entire KL International Airport is operated. The TAMS sub-system
project value was US$25m and was completed on schedule.
